Why Are You Mad?

Important

When someone questions the honesty and integrity of the drug companies and the value of their psychopharmaceuticals, the first line of defense is to smear the messenger as being affiliated with Scientology. Nothing could be further from the truth with the author.

The author's only recollected connection with Scientology was more than 40 years ago. One of his 130 employees at that time was a member. On a couple of occasions the employee brought up the subject. Crawford's response was that he was being paid to work, not to proselytize.

The next approach is to paint the poor benighted soul as one who denies the existence of mental illness. The book makes such an allegation impossible.

Another line of attack is to portray one who refuses to worship at their feet as a Luddite - someone who is against all scientific progress. Crawford has held many patents and the book is the result of more than a decade of scientific research.

About the Author

Crawford Harris was born at the bottom of a mountain top in Tennessee, in a little town that produced the Scopes "Monkey" Trial and not much else. He was homeless way back in the 1950s, before it became so popular. He has too much education for his own good and too little reverence for the powers-that-be for their own good.

Crawford's experience covers many areas. He has been an advocate and lobbyist for nonprofits for the mentally ill, served as field director for a project of the National Institute of Mental Health and has a consulting firm in the field. He does volunteer work with the mentally ill in prisons and those on the street.

His labors in other fields are varied. Crawford was an assembler language programmer, a foreign correspondent, a professional photographer and computer dealer. He wrote for an academic journal and worked in intelligence. Additionally, he has held licenses as a radio technician, pilot and real estate broker.

This appears to be an extreme example of someone not knowing what he wants to be when he grows up. The problem is that, at his advanced age, he has a limited amount of time to settle on something.
